I believe that the New Year should begin in spring. This is mostly because my birthday is in spring and I want lots of celebration, but there are other reasons, too.
For one, spring is the the time of year when things actually start. New leaves appear. New flowers appear. New animals are born. Life springs from everywhere. Second, right now, the new year is in the middle of a season. To name the seasons in the year, we have to say "winter, spring, summer, fall, and winter again." Winter is sad. Who wants to start and end their year in the cold? Starting the year on the first day of March or April would make a lot of sense.
In this issue of Kidzpost, we look deeper into the season and discuss the theme of Spring and New Beginnings. As you read, you'll find the journey of a cherry blossom, the science of green growth, and some April Fool's facts. I hope you have a lot of fun! Happy New Year!
